A persistent ridge should continue to affect much of the country this weekend, however, in the far south westerlies are expected to increase from later tomorrow as weak frontal activity brushes southern coasts. By Monday the ridge moves to northern New Zealand and weakens allowing a front to push up the country. A colder southerly airstream develops behind this feature affecting all areas on Tuesday.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARUNUI, TAUPO, TAIHAPE, TARANAKI, WANGANUI,
MANAWATU and KAPITI:
Fine apart cloudy periods night and morning thru to the end of the weekend with little wind. Afternoon sea breezes affecting many coastal places. An increase in cloud Monday but remaining dry. Showers Tuesday as colder southerlies spread north.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA:
Coastal cloud south of Napier today with the chance of a few brief showers otherwise dry and settled thru to Monday. On Tuesday, colder southerlies becoming established with showers pushing north.
